Get Projects Started before January 16

Review, clean out, reorganize, and revisit your past.
by Lilly Roddy

Your list of 2015 New Year’s resolutions may look a lot like last year’s list with Mercury going retrograde on the 16th. Get your projects started before this date, or you will have to wait until February 21 when Mercury is going direct. Use this time to review, clean out, reorganize, and revisit your past. • The second half of the month is very low-energy. We will want to avoid crowds and find more peaceful places since we’re just more inwardly focused. It’s a good time for yoga, meditation, or tai chi. • The sun starts the month in Capricorn but enters Aquarius on the 20th. Mercury begins in Capricorn, enters Aquarius on the 4th, and remains there for the entire retrograde period. Venus is trudging through Capricorn, entering Aquarius on the 3rd and Pisces on the 27th. Mars is already in Aquarius and enters Pisces on the 12th. Saturn has just entered Sagittarius for the first time in about 28 years. Jupiter remains in Leo, Uranus in Aries, Neptune in Pisces, and Pluto in Capricorn.

ARIES (March 21–April 19). January is always a busy month for you, and this is no exception. You are feeling very action-oriented—ready to make decisions and move forward in your life. You will be making some decisions that affect where your career is going and the viability of your relationships. Get as much done as you can before Mercury goes retrograde on the 16th. With this retrograde, you’ll be seeking out old friends and organizations that you haven’t connected with in a while.

TAURUS (April 20–May 20). Although the holidays normally find you laid-back until the middle of January, during this past holiday season you were a lot more focused on taking action with your career. With Mercury going retrograde in your career sector, you will be reevaluating your current position and the problems that come up repeatedly. If you need some help or support, contact your friends—they are all too ready to help you. Your home will be a retreat this month, so be sure to make some time to stay there.

GEMINI (May 21–June 21). This month sees you taking a much more laid-back approach to the New Year. With your ruler, Mercury, going retrograde, it’s a good time for taking care of what’s already on your plate rather than starting something new. Your relationships need to be revitalized. Career energies are much more active, especially after the 12th. You may want to start new projects at work, but it would be best to wait until Mercury is direct on February 21 before you start. You will be experiencing some delays and frustrations, so look for a good outlet to vent.

CANCER (June 22–July 22). Relationships will get your attention and focus this month, so work at revitalizing those relationships to make them more vibrant than ever. It may feel like you’ve just “had it” and can’t go any further. Your work can be a good escape from some of this. Mercury goes retrograde in the area of your chart that represents emotional and sexual intimacy. This can be a great time to have a real heart-to-heart talk, or to seek out the help of a therapist.

LEO (July 23–August 22). Your upbeat mood continues through January. The first part of the month has you focused on getting your personal habits and routines in order. This is a good time for you to pay attention to your health and to lose weight. Partnerships may be tense while Mercury is retrograde in your relationship sector. Old problems will return, so address them quickly and do away with the drama. The latter half of the month is not as tense.

VIRGO (August 23–Sepetmber 22). At this time of year you are usually a bit more laid-back and not pushing yourself as hard as you usually do. However, as 2015 begins you’re probably more focused than you have been in a long time. It’s a very good month to work on improving your health. Mercury (your ruling planet that is going retrograde) will be reminding you that you are ready for a gym membership! Your relationship needs some renewal, so make sure you devote some time to that toward the end of the month.

LIBRA (September 23–October 23). You didn’t get much of a break during the holidays, and your life continues to be very busy. There are a lot of demands on you, and you are having to make some choices and decisions even if you feel like you haven’t studied every option. Old family issues are resurfacing. You are letting go of what you assumed were your responsibilities as you look for alternate solutions. Your partner is tired of seeing you waiting, and is ready for you to take action. Take some time for yourself in the latter half of the month—you will need it.

SCORPIO (October 24–November 21). You may be feeling a bit overwhelmed by the sense of obligation that you impose on yourself. You are feeling a strong urge to plan for your financial future and retirement. Your career area remains positive, even with Mercury retrograde. This retrograde is a good time to reconnect with family members or friends from your past. It’s time to take your creativity and put it to a tangible use!

SAGITTARIUS (November 22–December 21). You’ve already started working on your New Year’s resolutions with a very strong, serious tone that is aimed at making your life better. You start the month focused on your financial position as you look for ways to improve and make investments in your future. You are feeling much more connected to your career and to getting ahead. Mercury goes retrograde at mid month, so use this time to get your office and your home cleaned up and organized. Family members are a little grumpy in the latter half of the month.

CAPRICORN (December 22–January 19). Happy birthday to the Capricorns! This is your personal yearly cycle of review and rebirth—the natural time for you to be evaluating where you are and where you need to go. Your finances are under review with Mercury retrograding through your house of money and resources, so it’s the perfect time to get that area of your life in order. Make sure you take some time for yourself toward the end of the month—all work and no play makes Jane a dull girl.

AQUARIUS (January 20–February 18). You are just beginning to come out of your normal holiday retreat time. The holidays often seem overwhelming and too demanding. Your personal energy level remains strong, and you are happy to work on personal projects. This can be a good time for exercise, especially if it’s one of your New Year’s resolutions. Mercury is retrograde in your sign from January 16 through February 21—a very introspective time. In some ways it’s the ideal time to review your life and reestablish your priorities. Watch your spending in the latter half of January.

PISCES (February 19–March 20). Although you had been enjoying the holidays, they were a bit demanding, even for you. Your career energies are really being highlighted this month and throughout the coming year. In 2015 you will be working on getting that part of your life in order. The latter half of the month is a natural time for you to retreat and have a rest. You will still have a lot of energy for things that you are personally interested in, but not much energy for things that you feel obligated to do. Work can be demanding, but by setting your own boundaries you will prevent others from taking advantage of you.
