After six years of successful business, Ruggles Green River Oaks (2311 West Alabama) has ultimately outgrown its current location. The eatery, which won OutSmart’s 2014 Gayest & Greatest award for best vegetarian restaurant, will be moving right next door, to the new five-story Gables mid-rise that is scheduled to open at 2305 West Alabama this March.
At 4,000 square feet, the restaurant’s new location will be double the size of its current space and offer three times the amount of parking. The restaurant will be the only retail tenant at the Gables mid-rise.
Ruggles Green River Oaks will temporarily close from January 1 until May 2015 in order to facilitate a smooth transition. Until then, the restaurant’s loyal customers are invited to visit Ruggles Green’s Heights location (748 East 11th Street), a short drive north on Montrose Boulevard.
“We are excited about relocating next door,” said Federico Marques, the vice president of marketing and co-founder of Ruggles Green. “We were hoping to get a few more months in our current location so we would not interrupt business, but our landlord has made plans for our current space and we understand the timing issues. We look forward to offering our guests much more parking, convenient access, a private party room, and the same great food and service they have grown to love.”
