Mercury Retrograde through March 7

Happy birthday Aquarius!
Happy birthday Aquarius!

This retrograde has the most impact in February.
By Lilly Roddy

As with all Mercury retrogrades, it’s a good time to review the past couple of months and look for opportunities to correct problems you might have missed. A Mercury retrograde is always a good time to clean out closets and filing cabinets, and contact old and existing clients or friends. • Mars, planet of action and confrontation, will also be going retrograde from February 15 until June 18. This will be the time to look at what really drives and motivates us, and also to look inward. Venus, which has been retrograde since mid December, goes direct on February 14. • We are having a long series of overlapping retrogrades of the inner planets—Venus, Mercury, and Mars. This will keep the first half of 2014 in a “two steps forward and one step back” mode. Don’t get too frustrated, as things will rapidly improve around mid July. • Good days this month are the 14th, 15th, 16th, and 24th. Days to be wary of are the 5th, 6th, 11th, 18th, 19th, 23rd, 26th, and 28th.

Aries (March 21–April 19). Relationships are still at the top of your menu this month. Whether you are happy or unhappy, you are looking for some new adventure or a spark in your relationship. Friends and associates play a big role for you this month. Don’t be surprised to hear from friends you haven’t heard from in a while. By the end of the month, you will need some time to yourself to relax and get away from the madding crowd. Your career energies are still in flux, but that gets much better by mid month. Although you’re not very clear where you are headed, you are very sure about where you don’t want to go. Pay attention to advice from friends.

Taurus (April 20–May 20) You continue to pay attention to your health this month, and it’s a great time to restart your exercise or diet regimen. Watch out for communication problems at work. Check and recheck before you make any definite decisions. You are still working hard at getting your life organized, and that will continue throughout 2014. Friends will play a bigger role for you after mid month. Both socially and professionally, your associations are a very important source of support and helpful suggestions. Renew those old contacts if you have been out of the loop for a while.

Gemini (May 21–June 21). You’re continuing to work on your financial situation and making improvements every day. Mercury, your ruling planet, is retrograde this month, and that will help you get lots of things in order during February. Work with what you have and don’t add any more to the mix. Career decisions are still in flux, and that continues for most of the year. Try to go with the flow and don’t make any permanent decisions until after March 7. Be sure to take some time away from your routines on the 22nd, 23rd, and 24th.

Cancer (June 22–July 22).  The Crabs are very restless this month, with lots of energy focused on home and family activities. This is a good month to take care of minor home repairs and weekend-warrior projects. You will be more short-tempered than usual with family members since they aren’t as good at reading your mind as they usually are. Work is a great source of escape this month—you’ll feel free and innovative there. Continue to work on getting your finances in order, since the Mercury retrograde should help with that during February.

Leo (July 23–August 22). Relationships are highlighted this month, with Mercury retrograding through the partnership area of your horoscope. This is the time to renew your partnerships and review your own history. If you are single, this is a good time to contact people from your past, or perhaps to go out on a date. If your partnership is not doing well, you may find that things are coming to an end. Continue to work on getting your home into shape. This could be the time to do some major clearing out and getting things in place.

Virgo (August 23–September 22). With Mercury, your ruling planet, in retrograde, you are in a big-time cleanup mode. Be careful that you don’t make projects too large by biting off more than you can chew. Watch your impulse spending this month, since you may try to justify buying anything you want. You are also rethinking the organizations that you belong to. If they are not really serving you, you will withdraw from them. By mid month you’ll want to spend more time with your partner. If you are single, get out and spend some time with old, close friends. You won’t want to be alone.

Libra (September 23–October 23). The big player for you this month continues to be Mars (planet of action, confrontation, and defensiveness). Librans are not so comfortable with Mars because it makes them focus on themselves. Your anger and impatience is not in sync with the Libran ideal of “Can’t we all just get along?” With Mars going retrograde in your sign, you’ll benefit from taking that cooperative energy and turning it inward. Restart those exercise programs! Finish that project that you have been putting off! With Mars, planet of selfishness, it’s the perfect time to put you first. Give it a try—it will be hard at first, but this attitude will impact all areas of your life.

Scorpio (October 24–November 21). You are in somewhat of a hibernation mode this month, and just happy to spend time alone at home. But you may also need to visit or reconnect with family members this month. Your overall desire to re-evaluate continues as you determine the real priorities in your life. Be careful that you aren’t too negative about your life, especially on the 11th and 18th. Make choices that enhance your freedom instead of limiting it. Overall, you are moving forward and making progress.

Sagittarius (November 22–December 21). Your social life has kept you very busy, but you are getting down to business this month. You have just finished a cleaning-out period, and you’re now trying to choose some new directions where you can venture out. This is a good month to reminisce with your siblings or pals from your past. Continue to work on stabilizing your financial picture. You will be in much better shape by the end of the year. By mid month, you’ll be much more focused on making your nest a more comfortable place to be.

Capricorn (December 22–January 19). The pace slows down a bit for the Sea Goats this month. You are going to be much more focused on career activities, where there could be some infighting and unnecessary drama. Give things time to develop before you rush in with your advice—there are some important details that will be revealed during February. Relationships are flowing better this month. Take some time to get out in nature and enjoy the solitude.

Aquarius (January 20–February 18). Happy birthday to the Water Bearers! This is an especially important birthday month for you. Mercury, the planet that rules brain activity, is going retrograde in your sign and making this month a very introspective one. As you look back, you realize you have been doing this since last August, but it steps up a couple of notches this month. This is a great time to clean out, reorganize, and get clear about your agenda. Hold off on important decisions until March, and be careful that you don’t come across as too bossy!

Pisces (February 19–March 20). You are certainly in a retreat mode this month. You are a bit more sensitive than usual and will only want to have the kindest people around you. Avoid the drama if you can, and take some time to be creative during February—it will really help you to reconnect with your soul. You are still moving forward as things improve, but you just need some recuperation time. Seek out your friends this month—they will be happy to see you!
