AMHERST, N.Y. – Funeral services were held for a 14-year-old New York boy who killed himself after blogging about being bullied because of his sexuality.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Jamey Rodemeyer were held Saturday in suburban Buffalo.
Jamey’s death Sept. 18 has led to renewed calls for schools and communities to crack down on bullying. Singer Lady Gaga is among celebrities who’ve weighed in, tweeting that she wants to meet with President Barack Obama on the issue.
Jamey’s final blog post thanked Gaga, who often sings about acceptance of gays and lesbians.
Meanwhile, police are investigating whether criminal charges should be filed against those who may have bullied the teen.
