The Houston Stonewall Young Democrats group received the Chapter Achievement Award from the Texas Stonewall Democratic Caucus for 2008 at TSDC’s first biennial convention held March 1 in Austin.
“HSYD is the only active LGBTQI Young Democrats organization in Texas and it has demonstrated true leadership by mobilizing young people to get involved in voter registration and get-out-the-vote activities in the 2008 presidential election, and helping turn Harris County ‘blue’ in the process,” said Daniel Graney, TSDC president. “TSDC is proud to honor the young activists of HYSD and to hold them up as a role model for other Democrats, both young and old, in Texas.” – by Nancy Ford
