Transgender Center Reopening

Responding to a survey gauging the community’s desire for another transgender center in Houston, the Transgender Foundation Center of America has announced the grand reopening of its Transgender Center. Located at 604 Pacific Street, volunteers moved in to the new location on April 17.

“When the survey was completed, we found that the vast majority of the respondents wanted TFA to reopen the TG Center,” Cristan Williams, TFA president, said in a statement to the press. (Survey results are available at tgctr.org/2010/02/11/

The TG Center opens for tours on the day of Houston’s Transgender Unity Banquet, May 1, from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. The grand reopening and ribbon-cutting ceremony is scheduled May 2, 11 a.m. until 6 p.m., beginning with a brunch.

In addition to providing free meeting space for transgenders, a research library and archive, the TG Center also offers a transgender homeless program, free therapy and health screenings, case management, and more. tgctr.org • 713/520-8586.
