Self-evident

Scott Hightower

Pick up a copy of Self-evident, flip through it, and…“Hmmmm. Poetry—I’ll read it later. Why do I have to read the books to review them?” What a mistake! Once I actually read the book, I discovered much more than poetry. I found a history of the world, a history of our community, and a history of one man’s identity formation, all told in language so compellingly beautiful that I find snatches of it springing to mind at the oddest moments. This one’s going in my permanent collection. Bravo, Mr. Hightower. Barrow Street Press (barrowstreet.org). —Review: Angel Curtis
