Houston GLBT Political Caucus Pac Issues Endorsements

More than 150 members of the Houston GLBT Political Caucus Political Action Committee met Wednesday night to vote on endorsements in the upcoming Houston City Council Races.

In order to be eligible for endorsement, candidates were required to complete a 48-question survey about their qualifications, campaign, knowledge of City issues, and knowledge and support of issues affecting the GLBT community, as well as sit for an interview with a panel of Caucus volunteers. The Screening Committee makes recommendations that go before the membership for a vote.

“Our endorsement process has been one of the most stringent and respected processes in the City for decades.” said Caucus president Noel Freeman. “Our membership takes endorsements very seriously and votes in favor of the best-qualified candidates whom we know can strongly represent not only the GLBT community but all Houstonians.”

The Caucus previously endorsed Mayor Annise Parker in May for re-election, and will consider the City Controller and several HISD races in September.
