Deadbeat Comedy Sketch Group Debuts Film “Deadbeat TV Vol. 2” July 28 at the River Oaks Theatre

The Deadbeat Club, Houston’s only comedy sketch group, will debut their new film, “Deadbeat TV Vol. 2,” at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, July 28 at the River Oaks Theatre located at 2009 West Gray.

“This is a great opportunity for our sketch group,” comedian Theodore M. E. Taylor said. “This is such a great theatre, and we hope a lot of people come out to enjoy our new film.”

The historic River Oaks Theatre screens many world premier engagements and an eclectic mix of independent films.

“Deadbeat TV Vol. 2” is the second production of The Deadbeat Club, featuring Steven Katz, Theodore M.E. Taylor, Mark Hurtado, Frank Garcia, Keith Manning, and John Gard.  The film is a collection of short comedy sketches that parody TV shows and commercials, which are framed in a simulated channel-surfing format.

These self-titled “Registered Sketch Offenders” bring a diverse collection of talents to Houston’s comedy scene.  The Deadbeat Club members perform at The Improv Comedy Club, The Laff Spot and other prominent Houston comedy clubs.  Gard and Taylor have each won Houston’s Funniest Comic competition.

The Deadbeat Club’s group members combine backgrounds in theatre, graphic animation and varied cultural influences to create fresh social commentary through comedy.

The Deadbeat Club members will be present and available for commentary at the premier.

Ticket prices are $10, and are available at the door or pre-sale online at www.landmarktheatres.com.
