Community Fundraiser for Former ‘OutSmart’ Editor Tim Brookover on February 12

Tim Brookover and Albert Mata

OutSmart’s former editor Tim Brookover continues to struggle with cancer and is once again undergoing treatment, this time at M.D. Anderson Cancer Center.

Bethel United Church of Christ (Tim and partner Albert’s home congregation) is hosting a spaghetti luncheon fundraiser for them on Sunday, February 12, at noon.

Money raised will be used to help Tim and Albert deal with living costs during this period while Tim is waiting for a decision on his long-term disability application from his job at the City of Houston and at the same time unable to earn income.

The benefit includes spaghetti, iced tea, and dessert for $10. Proceeds from the supper will be placed in a dedicated fund and will be used for specific expenses (depending upon the size of the fund). A silent auction is also being planned.

Can’t make the fundraiser but would like to donate to assist Tim’s assistance fund? Donations by check would be mightily appreciated. Checks should be made out to Bethel United Church with the memo “For Tim Brookover Fund.” Mail checks to: Bethel United Church, 1107 Shepherd Drive, Houston, TX 77007.

Silent auction donations are also being requested. For more information contact Bethel Church at 713/861-6670 or visit the Facebook event page: Spaghetti Lunch Benefit for Tim Brookover.
