Caucus PAC Introduces Mobile Endorsement Card

Just in time for Texas’ March 2 primary elections, the Houston GLBT Political Caucus PAC has introduced a mobile endorsement card to supplement its hard-copy endorsement cards.

“You can do almost anything on your phone now. Why not be able to see which candidates are the best for the GLBT community?” said Kristopher Banks, caucus president, in a statement to the press.

Interested voters may text 2010 to the number 24587 to receive a returned text with a link to the mobile endorsement card, which is accessible via a smart phone.

The mobile endorsement card lists all candidates endorsed by caucus members for the March 2010 primary.

“In the past, we have mailed the caucus card to identified GLBT and pro-GLBT voters, and those who did not receive it in the mail could get it from a caucus volunteer at the West Gray Multi-Service Center early voting poll, or at any Montrose precinct on Election Day. We’re still doing that,” Banks said. “However, members of our community live all over Harris County. With the mobile endorsement card, we’ll be able to get our message to more people.”

Banks added that while voters are encouraged to look at the mobile endorsement card before they vote, it is a violation of the Texas Elections Code to use a wireless communication device within 100 feet of a polling location. —Nancy Ford
