Linus Lerner has been named artistic director of Bayou City Performing Arts, the umbrella organization for Gay Men’s Chorus of Houston, the Bayou City Women’s Chorus, Bayou City Chorale, and Bayou Rhythms.
“I’m very excited. I love Houston,” Lerner told the Arizona Daily Star. “I worked with this chorus and it’s good.”
Currently the music director and conductor of the Southern Arizona Symphony Orchestra Tucson, Lerner said he will commute from Houston to Tucson to continue to lead the orchestra there.
Lerner’s appointment to BCPA becomes effective in August. – by Nancy Ford
