Cass is struggling to be true to herself. After her best friend dies, Cass struggles through an aborted solo cross-country bike trip, works to help produce a musical titled Totally Sweet Ninja Death Squad, and falls in love. This book is well-plotted and well-constructed, and I really wanted to like it. The problem is the completely flat writing. Still, this could serve as the lightest of beach reads, especially since you wouldn’t really care if something bad happened to it.
