On Saturday, May 3, as a National presenting sponsor, Ketel One celebrated GLAAD’s mission to rewrite the script on LGBT equality and honored four stand-out LBGT athletes who recently came out: Olympic speed skater Blake Skjellerup, WWE superstar Darren Young, mixed martial artist Jessica Aguilar, and NCAA basketball player Derrick Gordon.

The evening celebrations began with a Dutch Flower Wall created with over 10,000 red and white roses, reflecting Ketel One’s Dutch Heritage in a stylized way that GLAAD Media Awards attendees were able to pose in front of.

Attendees sipped on Ketel One cocktails throughout the evening, and included honorees George Takei and Candice Cayne, hilarious host Fortune Feimster, presenters Naomi Watts, Emmy Rossum,Wilson Cruz, and guests Boy George, Jared Allman, Omar Sharif Jr., and the cast of Orange is The New Black, with performances by country artist Kacey Musgraves and a sing-along to catchy hit Can’t Get You Outta My Head by Kylie Minogue.

Honored athletes spoke about their experiences with coming out in the world of sports following a toast by Ketel One executive Daniel Cherry.
