Thousands Celebrate Gay Pride in Houston

HOUSTON – Thousands of people turned out to celebrate a day of gay pride in Houston.

The Pride Houston festival, which spanned two blocks in Montrose, was a prelude to Saturday evening’s Pride Parade, seen by an estimated 150,000 onlookers.

The parade and festival were the final events in the 33rd annual celebration of Houston’s lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender community.

Booths lining the streets included food and clothing vendors, political organizations, nonprofits, public utilities, museums, corporations, social groups and churches such as Houston’s Bering Memorial United Methodist Church.
