LEGAL ACTION A new attorney has joined the law firm of Simoneaux and Frye, PLLC. Salvador “Sal” Benavidez, whose main area of practice is in United States Immigration and Naturalization law, now handles employment-based immigration as well as family based immigration for the firm.  PICTURE SHOW PERSONNEL Acclaimed as “the most innovative microcinema in Texas,” the Aurora Picture Show has named Mary Magsamen its new curator. Magsamen, an affiliate faculty member of the University of Houston, takes over the microcinema’s art and historical film and video programming.
Additionally, APS’ founder and previous artistic director, Andrea Grover, now acts as an advisor to the board, turning over daily operations to executive director, Delicia Harvey. APS Aurora Picture Show also promoted community partnership manager, Rachel Blackney, to associate director. The staff changes took effect on December 1. Details: aurorapictureshow.org.

AFTER IKE Following the hurricane that devastated much of Galveston in September, Claire Reisweig of Sand ‘n’ Sea reports that though the real-estate office at Pirate’s Beach office and laundry facility sustained no damage, but only one of their 180 vacation rental homes was left in livable or rentable condition.  LAW TUTOR Artistic director of Theatre New West, Joe Watts, has announced he is expanding his directorial vision with Enhanced Performance. The classes provide attorneys with skills to enhance performance in the courtroom, with the goal of winning more cases. Watts says the course begins with an interview to access the personality and demeanor of the attorney, so the classes can be designed specifically for that attorney.
