LAS VEGAS (AP) — Signs on the Strip and in downtown Las Vegas went purple to signify a stand against bullying and support for gay and lesbian teens.
The surface of the “Welcome to Fabulous Las Vegas” sign went purple Friday, and marquees at casinos along the tourist corridors are also marking Spirit Day.
Participating companies include Caesars Entertainment, MGM Resorts International, Wynn Resorts, Las Vegas Sands Corporation, Treasure Island, The Tropicana Las Vegas and The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas. All are scheduled to turn their marquees purple for 15 minutes starting at 10 p.m.
The Fremont Street Experience is set to turn the millions of LED lights in its Viva Vision canopy purple at 10 p.m.
Promoters of Spirit Day include the Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation, better known as GLAAD.
