Opponents of Gay Marriage Ban Raise $3M in One Month

MINNEAPOLIS (AP)—The principal group working to defeat Minnesota’s constitutional amendment to ban gay marriage raised $3 million in the final stretch of the race.

Minnesotans United for All Families released its latest fundraising report Tuesday. A spokesman for its chief opponent, Minnesota for Marriage, said that group’s fundraising totals would be released later in the day.

The latest report covers Sept. 19 to Oct. 22. During that period Minnesotans United raised $2.7 million from 25,000 individual donors and another $280,000 in in-kind contributions. The amount the group still has in the bank was not immediately available.

Since forming in 2011, Minnesotans United has raised just short of $10 million from more than 62,000 donors, and $1.3 million in in-kind contributions.
