Gay Mayor of San Angelo Resigns For Love
Choosing love over his political career, San Angelo’s openly gay mayor, J.W. Lown, has resigned from office in order to pursue a relationship with a man who is an immigrant from Mexico.
Lown, 32, was overwhelmingly elected to a fourth term as mayor by the citizens of the small Texas town in a special election in May. He told the San Angelo Standard-Times he declined taking the oath of office knowing he was “aiding and assisting” someone who was not a U.S. citizen.
