Hawaii Conference Focuses on Needs of LGBT Youth

HONOLULU – Two hundred are expected to attend a Honolulu conference focused on improving services for Hawaii’s lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender youth.

Today’s conference will provide those working in social service, health, education and juvenile justice with information about providing services to LGBT clients.

Hawaii Department of Health Officials organizing the event say LGBT youth often don’t receive appropriate services they need and want. As a result, they become at risk for substance abuse, health concerns and suicide.

The LGBT Youth Safety-Net Conference will also focus on building coalitions among agencies.
