Steven is thrilled when he and his friend win backstage passes for his idol’s, Hayden, concert. This chance meeting leads to a difficult relationship spanning years of pen pal, friend, lover, friend again, and, finally, survivor. This is Chris Corkum’s first novel, and it shows. The work starts too slowly, the characters are not fleshed out, and the story does not drive the plot. That being said, the writing in the second half of the book is great. Though I can’t recommend this one, I look forward to the next. —Review: Angel Curtis
