Doris Day: My Heart
We’re pretty sure there’s a Dorian Grey-type portrait in Doris Day’s attic, because America’s 87-year-old Sweetheart does not sound, or look, a day over 60. Okay, maybe 65. And this, her 29th album is not a re-worked “masters” collection of her early hits. Only four of the 12 selections here are re-releases; the newly recorded stuff includes Gus Kahn’s “My Buddy” (for her deceased son, Terry Melcher), John Sebastian’s “Daydream,” Bruce Johnston’s “Disney Girls,” and more. Positively (and we mean that literally) lovely. Streamline Records (streamline-records.com). —by Nancy Ford
