AIDS Foundation Houston (AFH) is hosting the Houston Premiere of Matthew McConaughey’s new movie, “The Dallas Buyers Club” on Sunday, October 20th at 7:15 p.m. at Sundance Cinemas.

The exclusive premiere will give supporters the chance to view the film before it is set to release in theatres nationwide November 1, 2013 and all funds from ticket sales will go directly to support programs and services provided by AIDS Foundation Houston. Only 85 tickets were made available for the unique event and placed on sale via the AFH website. Supporters swarmed to the site and all tickets were quickly sold.

“Part of our overall mission is to prevent and educate individuals, as well as the community, regarding HIV/AIDS and we feel absolutely honored to be able to host this unique, informative film. It’s a great way to show the tremendous strides research and supporting organizations have taken in order to help cure and prevent this epidemic and we feel privileged to be able to further the effort,” said Kelly Young, CEO.

The film is inspired and based on the true story of accidental AIDS activist, Ron Woodroof, played by Matthew McConaughey, and takes its viewers on the wild, unpredictable ride Woodroof experienced when he contracted HIV. The film vividly portrays the misunderstanding and negligence of the AIDS disease by medical establishments in 1986 and the obstacles having to be overcome in order to receive treatment.
