Join Houston artist Hugo Regan for the closing reception of Night, For Now, a solo exhibition of new paintings exploring the figure and the quiet resilience required to move through uncertain terrain.

Regan’s intimate-sized oil paintings place figures inside nocturnal landscapes. Lit by singular sources of light, these scenes hold moments of tenderness, vulnerability, and watchfulness. The figures often meet the viewer’s gaze or remain absorbed in their own interior world, occupying space with a quiet sensuality and strength.

Drawing from folklore and the visual language of Western figuration, the work introduces subtle mythic presences just beyond the edge of the scene. Beauty and danger exist side by side. The night becomes a stage where queer bodies claim visibility, intimacy, and rest. Night, For Now invites viewers into an atmosphere where narrative, memory, and imagination meet.
