About: An exhibition challenging the meanings of intimacy and affection featuring photographs, performances and installations.
Quote:
” This exhibition unapologetically illuminates the consequences of a hyper-active social media driven society, while gracefully touching on the relationship between affection, intimacy, love and lust in today’s world. “Missed Connections” challenges the meaning of affinity and devotion, featuring new photography works, live performances and interactive installations. Don’t miss out on this opportunity to connect with some of Houston’s most eccentric & vibrant underground artists right here in Montrose. ” – Rebecca Rose Friday, Flatland Gallery Director of Projects & Events
Featured Artists:
Megan Gonzalez @venusinfurrr: M is an interdisciplinary artist focused on ideas involving the body, agency, and social constructs. Her projects represent her conflicts and concerns with the predatory culture on the internet.
Gabriel Montoya: A video artist and photographer whose work involved exploring repressed memories to reconcile them.
Kumquat @hole_toad: The character Kumquat explores the themes of the mundane life of the 21st century, by creating kooky performances and art installations that give an insight into the Kumquat universe! Transforming conventional public spaces, creating elaborate costumes, and implementing a parody of theatrical techniques.
Alex Beraza and Elijah Jimenez is a duo comprised of a writer (whose work is concerned with the realities of desire, romantic longing, and desperation) and the artistic equivalent of a guy who hangs drywall.
