DACAMERA Presents Walter Smith III Quartet

On October 17 at 8 p.m., DACAMERA will kick off its jazz series with an extraordinary concert featuring the Walter Smith III Quartet at the Wortham Theater Center. In his wittily titled new Blue Note release, “three of us are from Houston and Reuben is not,” acclaimed saxophonist Walter Smith III pays tribute to his hometown. For this performance, Walter will be joined by fellow Houstonians and jazz powerhouses Jason Moran (piano) and Kendrick Scott (drums), along with Reuben Rogers (bass). This supergroup of musical brothers celebrates the Bayou City with evocative songs like “610 Loop,” “Lone Star,” “Cézanne” and “Montrose Nocturne.”
