Call Me Ann: A Rock Opera

Call Me Ann is a rock opera biography of Ann Richards, and examines her life, her times, and what her election and subsequent re-election loss meant as her political career ended and George W. Bush’s began. Texas and Houston characters and situations feature prominently, as her history intersects with Governor Mark White, President George W. Bush, Molly Ivins, and Karl Rove.

Call Me Ann is a two-act full length work of original rock opera / musical theater. The cast includes actors and musicians from the local music and theater scenes, including Catastrophic Theater, Horsehead Theater, the Wheelworkers, Molly and the Ringwalds, and Two Star Symphony. Alli Villines, 2019 Houston Press Theater Award winner, plays Ann Richards.
