16th Annual Empty Bowls Houston
Saturday, April 4, 2020 @ 11:00 am - 3:00 pm
One event on Friday, April 3, 2020 at 6:00 pm
Empty Bowls is an international effort to fight hunger, implemented in Houston to benefit
Houston Food Bank. The unique lunch fundraiser will be held Saturday, April 4 and is a collaboration between Houston area ceramists, woodturners and artists working in all media and Houston Center for Contemporary Craft. Guest enjoy perusing 1,500-plus one-of-a-kind, hand-crafted bowls made and donated by Houston area ceramists and craft artists, available for a donation of $25 per bowl, which goes 100% to Houston Food Bank. For each bowl purchased, receive a lunch of soup provided by Sweet Tomatoes and bread from Slow Dough Bread Co. The empty bowls purchased serve as a reminder of all the empty bowls in our community and the world. Larger bowls available at a higher price (lunch also included.) Note: for each $1 donated to Houston Food Bank, THREE meals are provided to the hungry. So, each $25 bowl purchase provides 75 meals! Live music and artist demonstrations throughout the day. In its first 15 years, Empty Bowls Houston has raised $908,000 for the Houston Food Bank! (This equals
approximately 2.7 million meals to the hungry!)
There is also a Preview Party on Friday, April 3. This ticketed event is $50 and includes light bites, beer and wine, and the first opportunity to purchase an Empty Bowl! The event benefits Empty Bowls Houston and Houston Center for Contemporary Craft. Event co-chairs are Ashley and Tyler Horne.
