The Black School Presents: Black Love Fest HTX

Saturday, June 15, 2019 @ 12:00 pm - 5:00 pm

Free

The Black School will host Black Love HTX on Saturday, June 15 at Emancipation Park, in conjunction with the Park’s Juneteenth Celebratory events. Supported by Project Row Houses’ Strategic Art Plan and Emancipation Park Conservancy, Black Love Fest is a free art and music festival promoting a cultural movement for Black love.

The family-friendly event will feature programming and art/activism workshops designed to use creative acts to address issues in the community. Houston’s own DJ Elevated will be performing at the festival, which will also feature performances by other musicians/performers. While at the event, attendees have the opportunity to support local merchandise and food vendors, as well as explore the different art installations.

Juneteenth celebrates the abolition of slavery in Texas, and the emancipation of enslaved African Americans throughout the former Confederate States. The event intersects the shared goals of artistic community enrichment and the liberation of Black People with the creative, self-determined community of Third Ward.

Black Love Fest HTX marks the first collaboration between Project Row Houses and Emancipation Park Conservancy.
