IF HER FRIENDS COULD SEE HER NOW!

Beloved Bob Fosse Classic, SWEET CHARITY, Gets a Re-Envisioned Production at EaDo Playhouse!

SWEET CHARITY originally premiered on Broadway in 1966, directed and choreographed by the legendary Bob Fosse. Starring his muse, Gwen Verdon, this renowned musical comedy was crafted by a powerhouse team of creators: Composer Cy Coleman, Lyricist Dorothy Fields and Book Writer Neil Simon.

The Playhouse’s imaginative new production sweeps us back to 1960’s New York, where we meet Charity Hope Valentine. Charity, a dance hall hostess at the Fandango Ballroom, puts the “hopeless” in “hopeless romantic.” We watch as Charity stumbles her way from guy to guy, each relationship more unlucky than the last. Will she ever get her life together? Will she ever find true love?

This hilarious and heartwarming musical is the sexy cherry on top of an incredible Summer Season at EaDo Playhouse! With classic songs like “Big Spender,” “If My Friends Could See Me Now,” and “The Rhythm of Life,” an innovative design and ingenious choreography, inspired by Fosse, SWEET CHARITY is sure to delight audiences!

This exciting production stars Victoria Riley as Charity Hope Valentine. Colton Berry does triple-duty as potential love interests, Charlie, Vittorio Vidal and Oscar Lindquist, while Megan Elizabeth and Raven Troup are the voice of reason as Nickie and Helene, respectively. Luke Hamilton preaches on the “Rhythm of Life” as Daddy Brubeck and Michael Castillo keeps us in line as Herman. SWEET CHARITY also features performances by incredible local performers, Ashley Cooper (Ursula and others), William Eckert (“Frug” Soloist and others), Megan Morgan (Frenchy and others) and Julia Noble (Rosie and others). The production is directed and designed by Colton Berry, with choreography by Luke Hamilton and musical direction by Jane Volke.

SWEET CHARITY runs August 11 to 27, Fridays and Saturdays at 8pm, and Sundays at 5pm. Tickets are available at EaDoPlayhouse.com and by calling the box office at 832.210.5200. Ample street parking surrounding 2619 McKinney Street is completely free.
