HOUSTON - METdance presents the third concert in its 2015-2016 performance season - a celebration of the nonprofit's 20th anniversary in Houston's vibrant arts community.\r\n \r\nIn honor of two decades of captivating performances, groundbreaking choreography and educational outreach, the "Celebrating 20!" season includes retrospective works as well as new works showcasing the company's fusions of classical and contemporary dance.\r\n \r\nThe third show in the series, \u201cDUO,\u201d is slated for Valentine's Day weekend, at 8 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 12 and Saturday, Feb. 13 and at 6 p.m. on Sunday, Feb 14 at Spring Street Studios, 1824 Spring Street, 77007. Tickets cost $30 or $50 per couple. Seating is limited.\r\n \r\nBack by popular demand, \u201cDUO\u201d is an intimate evening of duets from the METdance repertoire.\r\n \r\nThe artists of METdance will celebrate and explore various relationships in an up-close setting, making the one-hour show a perfect way to celebrate Valentine\u2019s day.\r\n \r\n\u201cEvery year my husband and I go out to dinner for Valentine\u2019s Day,\u201d artistic director Marlana Doyle said. \u201cI thought people need to have something else to do besides dinner \u2013 and we came up with DUO.\u201d\r\n \r\nThis will be the second year METdance will the show. \u201cWith DUO, what I was trying to do was to get the company to do something more intimate,\u201d Doyle said of last year's inaugural performance. \u201cWe always dance as an ensemble. I wanted to challenge the dancers to work one-on-one for a change.\u201d\r\n \r\nThe show features works by Robert Battle, artistic director of the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theatre, as well as premieres by Oliver Halkowich of the Houston Ballet and former METdance company member Terrill Mitchell.\r\n \r\n\u201cIt\u2019s a perfect date night,\u201d Doyle said. \u201cIt\u2019s just a fun way to spend the evening. Enjoy a wonderful night of dance and support the arts.\u201d\r\n \r\nAn additional performance, "DUO too," will be performed by the MET too Youth Company, a non-competitive training troupe. The performance is at 4 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 13 at Spring Street Studios. Tickets are $10.\r\n \r\nThe "Celebrating 20!" season continues with \u201cHonored Guests,\u201d slated for 8 p.m. on Friday, April 8 at Wortham Center Cullen Theatre, 510 Texas Ave., 77002. Tickets range from $15 to $35 per person.\r\n \r\nThe fifth program in the season is a one night only performance \u201cMET too Youth Company Spring Concert\u201d at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, May 20 at Midtown Arts and Theatre Complex, 3414 La Branch St., 77004. Tickets are $20.\r\n \r\nThe METdance season concludes with \u201cSizzling Summer Dance\u201d at 8:30 p.m. on Friday, June 3 at Miller Outdoor Theatre, 6000 Hermann Park Dr., 77030.\r\n \r\nMETdance offers a "premiere package" - a pair of orchestra seats to all six shows for $500 plus a $100 gift card to Weights and Measures Restaurant.
