Formerly dubbed Global Movements, Houston Ballet’s second mixed repertoire Play has been reimagined and specially choreographed for the General Assembly Hall at the George R. Brown Convention Center. The unique stage setup that extends into the audience provides an immersive experience that brings audiences closer to the dancers than ever before.

Houston’s resiliency will be celebrated throughout the special evening, which includes a much-anticipated premiere from Stanton Welch, in collaboration with current Poet Laureate for the City of Houston Deborah D.E.E.P Mouton and local artist Emanuelle “Outspoken Bean,” who will perform spoken-word poetry about our vibrant city during the performance.

Welch’s beloved Bolero—set to Ravel’s famous score—and the societal commentary piece Play—performed to the popular Moby album—will also return, reimagined for this unique venue, along with a premiere piece choreographed by three of Houston Ballet’s own talented dancers: Melody Mennite, Connor Walsh, and Oliver Halkowich.
