Old West Melodrama is inviting you to Grandma Rose’s 80thbirthday party – and you’re guaranteed to have a perfect seat to watch the sparks start to fly at this interactive dinner theatre production. The show, “Eat, Drink and Be Murdered,” by Tony Schwartz and Marylou Ambrose, opens on Friday, May 4 and performances continue Friday and Saturday through Saturday, May 19. Dinner and a pre-show begin at 7 p.m. Purchasing dinner is required to attend the show. The melodrama begins at 8 p.m. The plot centers around Rose O’Riley McFadden, who gave her family’s secret whiskey recipe to her husband, Finian McFadden. They built a dis¬tillery and turned Wild Irish Rose Whiskey into one of the top-selling brands in the world. Unfortunately, an old family feud between the families resurfaced in the face of success. The McFaddens got filthy rich, while the O’Rileys were forced to work for them at the distillery. When Finian died tragically after falling into a vat of whiskey, his son Conor took over running the distillery -- but not with absolute control. When Rose gave her husband the O’Riley family recipe, she left out one ingredient as an “insurance policy. Every day, she goes to the distillery and adds it to the mix. Nobody’s fool, Rose realized Finian married her for the recipe and didn’t trust him. She hoped when Conor took over the business he’d make the O’Rileys partners and end the feud. Conor, however, turned out to be a chip off the old McFadden block, a real O’Riley hater. The dinner theatre is an interactive experience – and audience participation is encouraged. Gift certificates are available. Tickets may be reserved by emailing reservations@oldwestmelodrama.comor calling 713-364-9190.
