Japanese poet Ryunosuke Satoro once wrote about the importance of unity, “Individually, we are one drop. Together, we are an ocean.” This inspirational quote became the basis for “Better Together” – an upcoming performance by METdance that focuses on the unity and energy of dance. The event is slated for 8 p.m. on Friday, April 12 and Saturday, April 13 at Hobby Center for the Performing Arts, 800 Bagby St in downtown Houston, 77002. Tickets for “Better Together” start at $21 and are available online at www.thehobbycenter.org or by calling the box office at 713-315-2525. Senior, students and groups are eligible for a 15 percent discount. “There’s a power and strength in collaboration and cooperation, and we are exploring that concept on stage,” METdance artistic director Marlana Doyle said. The program will include a world premiere by long-time METdance collaborator Katarzyna Skarpetowska, a modern choreographer based in New York, and performances by Houston’s Robbie Moore and award-winning, NYC-based artist Kyle Abraham. METdance’s MET too Youth Company will perform “love wins,” a study on survival in a time of crisis. For more information, visit www.metdance.org. Tickets start at $21
