The Woodlands Pride Festival takes place each October, but pride is a 365-day-a-year activity. To continue the community’s momentum and involvement in LGBTQ causes, The Woodland Pride’s organizers host events throughout the year, including this month’s inaugural summit, “Talking With Pride.”
More than 100 attendees gathered at Sam Houston State University’s The Woodlands Center for a day of presentations and panel discussions to address noteworthy LGBTQ topics. “The impact of identity and how it affects mental health,” “Business support for the LGBTQ+ community,” “How to be an ally,” and “Advocacy for the LGBTQ+ community” were central points of discussion during the summit.
The Woodlands Pride’s mission is to connect, celebrate, educate and foster relationships in the LGBTQIA community while promoting equality, unity, and love in The Woodlands and beyond. Its flagship event, The Woodlands Pride Festival, has welcomed more than 15,000 attendees to Town Green Park since its debut in 2018. This year’s festival is scheduled for Saturday, October 21.
