• Transgender Day of Remembrance Memorial
November 16, 7–9 p.m.
Progressive Open Door Christian Center, 3530 Wheeler Avenue
This event will feature a full memorial service, including a reading of the names of those lost to transphobic violence this year, guest speakers, and performances by community leaders and entertainers. Refreshments and conversation will follow.
• Transgender Day of Remembrance Reception and Program
November 19, 6:30 p.m.
University of Houston A.D. Bruce Religion
Center, 3800 Cullen Blvd.
The Houston Transgender Unity Committee hosts the city’s longest-running Transgender Day of Remembrance event. The evening will feature guest speakers and a reading of the names of this year’s victims of transphobic violence. The reception will begin at 6:30 p.m., followed by the program at 7:30 p.m.
• Transgender Day of Remembrance Service
November 20, 6–7 p.m.
City Hall, 901 Bagby Street
This event, held on the steps of City Hall, will have a candle lighting, reading of the names of those murdered in the U.S. due to transphobic violence, a presentation by transgender veterans, and guest speakers. City Hall will also be lit in the colors of the transgender flag.
