Swedish 17-year-old Zara Larsson released her new pop EP with TEN/Kemosabe/Epic in January. The singer made a splash on the Internet early this year by posting an Instagram of her lower leg sheathed in a condom up to her knee poking fun at the guys who claim to be “too big,” but that fun and bubbly personality takes a backseat to some of the more serious themes she explores in Uncover. As shocking as it may be, the teenaged singer concentrates on relationships. Without the filler that might have come with a full album, the EP showcases her range from pure pop in “Carry You Home” and “Wanna Be Your Baby” to R&B flavors in “Never Gonna Die,” and slowing it down in “Uncover” and “She’s Not Me, Pt. 1&2.” Larsson presents a refreshing take on a common motif with her catchy hooks and interesting melodies that back up her rich voice.
