Roberta’s Fire

RobertasFireBy Kelly Sinclair
Reviewed by Angel Curtis

Roberta has died, and many of her secret female lovers, neighbors, and friends have gathered. Chief among them is Roberta’s first lover, Marty, a very private writer whose one book about a fictional hate crime became an American classic, earning her a comfortable and respectable life. The gathering is the last opportunity for the truth to be told about the crime that shaped Marty’s novel—about how the fear of being outed hurt so many, about how bigotry and class hatred combined to ruin the lives of everyone involved, and finally, about redemption. This book is not to be missed. Blue Feather Books (bluefeatherbooks.com).
