Red Caps: New Fairy Tales for Out of the Ordinary People

RedCapsBy Steve Berman
Review: Angel Curtis

Reading Red Caps made me wonder what happened to Steve Berman’s writing. Berman’s previous work was a wonderful example of weird tales meant for readers of young-adult speculative fiction. That was then. The “now” book fails completely as a collection of fairy tales. The plots are not memorable, the characters are not archetypes, and the writing is tedious. Given the usual high quality of work published by Lethe Press, I am seriously disappointed. Available February 14 from Lethe Press (lethepress.com).
