Obituary Notice: Dale A. Englefield, Jr

Dale Englefield, JrDale A. Englefield Jr., born August 15, 1957 to Vivian and Dale Sr., departed this life October 30, 2013. After a courageous battle with bone cancer, he passed peacefully at the Houston Hospice, surrounded by the loving care of friends. He was a gentle soul and a brilliant man. Dale graduated from the University of Houston where he studied French and played trumpet in the Cougar Band. He was awarded a scholarship by the French government in 1985 to teach American English in France. He returned to the U.S. and taught French at UT Austin. Dale was a business owner, technical writer, and active member of the community. He was also an accomplished Tai Chi Master and taught at several locations in Houston, including the First Unitarian Universalist Church, where he worked as church sexton. He continued to play his trumpet with the Houston Pride Band. Dale had many interests, loving friends and family, and a very full life. He is survived by his father, Dale Sr., his brother Donny Englefi eld, and his dear friend Bruce Banes.

A Memorial Service for Dale will be at 2:00, Saturday, December 7, at the First Unitarian Universalist Church, 5200 Fannin Street, Houston 77004. The church is three blocks north (toward Downtown) from the Museum of Fine Arts Houston.
