On Nov. 20, 2013, a candlelight ceremony was held at the Montrose Remembrance Garden in Houston to honor those who lost their lives due to hate and violence over gender identity or expression. Activist Lou Weaver also dedicated an additional marker in the memorial space to honor those victims from the transgender community who have fallen to such violence.
