Houston artist Anat Ronen (r), known for her large-scale public art, is the recipient of the first Houston Art and Culture Scholarship, a nonprofit organization formed in 2011 to create and support artistic inspiration in Houston through scholarship and mentoring. All profits from the Art Tent juried show held at the March 2012 White Linen Night went to fund the scholarship. The scholarship provides up to $1,200 for supplies and expenses, as well as promotional services from Cadence Enterprise. “Anat exemplifies what Houston Art and Culture is all about,” said Lori Betz (l), president and founder of the organization. “Not only is she a fabulous artist, but the public nature of so much of her work is an inspirational example for the Houston community.” Photo by Dalton DeHart.
