The Texas Gay Rodeo Association presents “A Texas Tradition Rodeo” March 2-4 in Fort Worth

The Texas Gay Rodeo Association’s announces the “A Texas Tradition Rodeo” scheduled for March 2-4, 2012 at W.R. Watt Arena the Fort Worth Will Rogers Complex.

This is the 29th year for producing rodeos since TGRA was established as a 501 c 3 organization in 1983. This year’s rodeo director is Dan Nagel, who has organized previous rodeos for TGRA and coordinated with International Gay Rodeo Association Finals rodeo in 2011. Mr. Nagel said he plans to “offer the community another terrific event, competition and entertainment while showcasing the women and men in the sport of rodeo.”

The 2012 Rodeo’s presenting sponsor is Coors/Miller coming onboard for sponsorship with TGRA. Nagel said he is” very pleased with the relationship, and looking forward to working with the new sponsor for this year and hopefully for years to come.”

Friday evening at 6 pm contestant and volunteer registration as well as a welcome mixer is hosted at the Crown Plaza, 100 Altamesa Blvd East in Fort Worth, Texas. Saturday will be the first day of rodeo events starting at approximately 9 am, with Grand Entry being about noon.

Events run until around 5 pm depending on the number of contestants and competition. Sunday is the second day of the same events for competitors and entertainment.

The rodeo grounds will include a western market of vendors and informational booths for spectators to browse and shop. Live entertainment provided by performers and singers will be at the arena during the afternoons as well. Food and beverage are available from the concession vendors during the rodeo event.

Events are planned in the North Texas area during the weeks leading up to Rodeo weekend, including Chili cook-offs, meet and greets finally culminating with an official kickoff party to be held at the Dallas Eagle on March 1, hosted by Miss TGRA Trisha Davis.
