Watching the 46th Annual Academy Awards in 1974, television viewers were stunned to see a man streak, as was a cultural phenomenon at that time, across the stage. But that legendary, often-rerun incident is but one entry in the fascinating résumé of Robert Opel, who was also a gay man and noted photographer living in San Francisco until he was murdered in 1979, the year following Harvey Milk’s assassination. Robert Oppel (Opel’s nephew) directs this doc that includes footage of Dame Elizabeth Taylor, Divine, John Waters, and other icons. 2011.
