Salt Lake Police Chief Visits Site of Attacks on Gay Men
SALT LAKE CITY – Salt Lake City’s police chief is expected to return to a downtown night club where two gay men were attacked last month.
KSL-TV reports that detectives continue to investigate the attacks.
Last Friday, Salt Lake Police Chief Chris Burbank went to Club Sound to answer questions and show patrons that authorities were actively investigating.
He also asked the crowd for help.
The Aug. 26 attacks have not been classified as hate crimes, although one victim reported hearing a gay slur before being beaten outside the club.
Meanwhile, a group of business owners from Utah’s gay community is setting up a fund to provide reward money for information that leads to arrests in hate-motivated crimes against gays.
