CHICAGO – Gay military veterans will be honored Tuesday during the city of Chicago’s 9th annual salute.
The event will be noon to 1 p.m. at Richard J. Daley Plaza in the Loop.
The ceremony for veterans of the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender communities will feature veterans John Graziani, Veronica Hernandez, Marquell Smith, Anthony Sullivan and Willa J. Taylor.
The Chicago Commission on Human Relations says it’s the only municipally sponsored, military salute to gay veterans.
Two commission-related committees are sponsoring the event with the organization American Veterans for Equal Rights.
