Zen Master Miao Tsan to Speak at St. Paul’s UMC on March 27

Zen Master Miao Tsan with Dr. Bill Kerley

Abbott of Vairocana Zen Monastery in Garden Grove, California, international lecturer and author, Venerable Zen Master Miao Tsan will speak in the Ordinary Life class at St. Paul’s United Methodist Church at 9:45 a.m. Sunday, March 27.

“I look forward to the Zen Master’s return to Houston,” said Dr. Bill Kerley, who teaches the class and last fall moderated an “East Meets West” dialog with Master Tsan and Rev. Dr. J. Pittman McGehee at the Boniuk Center for Religious Tolerance at Rice University.

“His new book, Just Use This Mind, will be a provocative read for anyone in the West because of its emphasis on total personal responsibility,” added Kerley, “challenging our assumptions of cause and effect.”

On March 27, Ordinary Life will meet in the Law Building Auditorium in the Museum of Fine Arts. Enter on Bissonnet. (This is an interim location for the class while its usual space in the church’s Jones Building is closed for renovation and expansion.)

St. Paul’s UMC is located at 5501 Main Street, across from the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston. Free parking is available across Fannin Street from the church, and the Museum District MetroRail stops are within walking distance of the church. Web site: www.stpaulshouston.org.
