ANNAPOLIS, Md. (AP) – Democratic Sen. Jim Brochin says he will vote in support of gay marriage following an “appalling” display by opponents of the issue.
Brochin, of Baltimore County, said he was shocked when opponents of a bill to legalize same-sex marriage in Maryland called gays and lesbians “pedophiles.” The opponents also suggested gay marriage would open the door to marriage between humans and robotic “androids.”
Brochin brings to 21 the number of senators who have said they will support the bill. It needs 24 votes to pass.
