Milestones: Peter Marzio

Peter Marzio

Died. Dr. Peter Cort Marzio, director of Museum of Fine Arts Houston for 28 years, died following a battle with cancer. He was 67. Credited with building the MFAH into a world-class art institution, Dr. Marzio more than quadrupled in size MFAH’s permanent collection, growing it from 14,000 artworks to 62,000. A memorial service and celebration of Dr. Marzio’s life is scheduled at the museum, organizers say, with the date not yet announced at press time.
