Houston Pride Band has a proud history spanning four decades. Originally known as the Montrose Marching Band and then the Montrose Symphonic Band, the organization was formed by a small group of musicians in 1978 as a way to make new friends and to provide entertainment for Houston’s growing gay and lesbian community. In 1988, the band changed it’s name to the Lone Star Symphonic Band, and in 1995, it became The Houston Pride Band.

The Houston Pride Band is a member of the Lesbian and Gay Band Association (LGBA), a musical organization made up of over thirty-five GLBT member bands from across the nation and around the world. With LGBA, members of the Houston Pride Band have participated at every Gay Games, two Presidential Inaugurations, and concert performances throughout the world.
